The kinetics of the reaction of H with Ti and Ti-Al alloys was studied at 670 to 800C, and at a H pressure of 3torr, by using thermogravimetric methods. The diffusion data could be described by:

Ti:      D (cm2/s) = 3.70 x 10-2 exp[-14.40/RT]

Ti-6at%Al:     D (cm2/s) = 2.79 x 10-2 exp[-17.40/RT]

It was noted that Al markedly decreased the H diffusion coefficient by decreasing the number of interstitial sites.
