A method was described for the investigation of the diffusion of atomic defects in cubic ionic crystals, by measuring nuclear magnetic resonance relaxation rates. The self-diffusion coefficients which were obtained for Cu+, at temperatures above 350C, could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 8 exp[-1.0(eV)/kT]
