Chronopotentiometry was used to investigate the diffusion of U4+ and U3+ in alkali chloride melts which contained 1 to 1.5wt%U. The results for U4+, at temperatures ranging from 920 to 1200K, could be described by:
log[D (cm2/s)] = -1.80-3190/T
The diffusivity of U4+ at 1100K was equal to 2.00 x 10-5cm2/s, and that of U3+ was 2.75 x 10-5cm2/s.
