Electron microprobe micro-analysis was used to study the diffusion of Tl+ from thin TlCl layers, or from the vapor phase, into optical-grade single crystals. The results (table 74) for 457 to 727C could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 1.34 x 10-3 exp[-1.30(eV)/kT]

while those for temperatures ranging from 230 to 457C could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 5.81 x 10-11 exp[-0.24(eV)/kT]
