Chronopotentiometric measurements were used to study the diffusion of Mo3+ ions in melts with a 3:2 LiCl-KCl ratio. The data, for 900 to 1100K, could be described by:
D (cm2/s) = 3.90 x 10-3 exp[-9.258(kcal/mol)/RT]
It was suggested that Mo3+ diffusion occurred because of their jumping from complex MoCl63- anions and into vacant sites of the surrounding cationic envelope; and back again.
