Physicochemical data for trivalent uranium in LiCl-KCl eutectic at 773K were measured, including the diffusion coefficient (8.7 x 10-6cm2/s) of U3+ ions. To clarify the chemical behavior of U3+ ions in the presence of oxide ions, U3+ ions were reacted with oxides ions produced in situ in the LiCl-KCl. It was revealed, by X-ray diffraction patterns, that UO2 was formed from the reaction between U3+ ions and O2- ions with a molar ratio of 1:1.
