The electrochemical behaviour of cerium oxychloride in MgCl2-NaCl-KCl eutectic was investigated using cyclic voltammetry at 823K. The cyclic voltammogram of UO2Cl2-CeOCl in MgCl2-NaCl-KCl eutectic exhibited 2 peaks during a cathodic sweep as well as an anodic sweep. The reduction of UO22+ occurred via single-step two-electron transfer, and that of CeO+ via single-step one-electron transfer. The reduction of CeO+ was found to be quasi-reversible. The diffusion coefficient of CeO+ at 823K was between 1.7 x 10-5 and 1.9 x 10-5cm2/s.
