The rotating disk method was used to study the dissolution of Fe3+ in the melt (table 124). The data, for temperatures ranging from 1123 to 1213K, could be described by:
D (cm2/s) = 0.0229 exp[-13.80(kcal/mol)/RT]
The diffusion coefficients agreed with those obtained by applying the Stokes-Einstein relationship, when an empirical correction was made for the electrostatic interaction of ions.
