Using serial sectioning, the diffusion coefficients for carrier-free 54Mn in pure halide single crystals were measured in the intrinsic conductivity region as a function of temperature. The data, for 850 to 1010K, was described by:

D (cm2/s) = 5.79 x 10-4 exp[-0.619(eV)/kT]

These results were characterized by unexpectedly high diffusion coefficients, a low activation-energy (0.62eV) region above 830K, and a region of greater activation energy below this temperature.
