Chronopotentiometric and cyclic voltametric studies indicated that the electroreduction of HgII in an equimolar ZnCl2-KCl eutectic at 300C proceeded, via a reversible 2-electron process, so as to give Hg0. A diffusion coefficient of 2.17 x 10-6cm2/s was deduced for HgCl32- at 300C.
