The self-diffusion of Li in molten samples was measured by using the capillary reservoir technique, with 6Li as a tracer. The concentration profiles of 6Li in a capillary were measured by means of ion micro mass analysis. The results could be described by:
D (cm2/s) = 9.27 x 10-3 exp[-7770/RT]
The activation energy for Li diffusion was much lower than that of F, and was slightly higher than that for electrical conductivity.
