The self-diffusion of Li+ was investigated in single crystals by monitoring the interdiffusion of specimens having different isotopic concentrations (3.36 and 90.56%6Li). It was shown that the Li self-diffusion (table 167) was related to the number of vacancies in the crystals. The results, for temperatures of 650 to 800C, could be described by:
D (cm2/s) = 9 exp[-1.90(eV)/kT]
The values for temperatures below 650C were strongly affected by the presence of impurities.
