Corrosion of the fluoride glass by water vapor was studied. It was considered that the key reaction in the process was governed by the migration of -OH from the surface of the material and into the bulk. From the temperature dependence of the rate constant of this reaction, it was estimated that the activation energy for OH diffusion was 95kJ/mol.
