Experimental results were reported for the adsorption of propane and n-butane in a column packed with Linde 5A zeolite crystals, and methane, propane, n- and iso-butane in a column packed with silicalite crystals. The adsorption equilibrium constant and crystal diffusivity were obtained at 100 to 300C. The diffusivity of butane at 300K was 1.3 x 10-10cm2/s, and the diffusivity of propane at 400K was 2.9 x 10-11cm2/s. For each sorbate and packing, the heat of adsorption and diffusional activation energy were determined. The activation energy for butane diffusion was 22kJ/mol, and that for propane diffusion was 45kJ/mol.
