Under atmospheric pressure and in a state of reflux, NaSOD, NaA and NaX zeolite membranes were successfully synthesized on porous γ-Al2O3 by using microwave heating. As indicated by XRD and SEM, the multi-stage synthesis was propitious for improving the integrity of zeolite membrane. In microwave heating synthesis, NaA zeolites could form compact zeolite membrane on porous γ-Al2O3 better than NaSOD and NaX zeolites. The ideal H2/N2 selectivity on NaSOD, NaA and NaX zeolite membranes after three-stage synthesis were 3.00, 4.00 and 2.58, respectively, while the permeances of H2 were 5.1 x 10-7, 6.8 x 10-7 and 6.2 x 10-7mol/m2sPa, respectively. The results showed that zeolite membranes synthesized by using microwave heating provided high permeating performance and sustainable selectivity.
