The electrical conductivity and NMR relaxation of dehydrated synthetic zeolites of types A and X with various cations were investigated. The effect of sorbed inert molecules and occlusion of salts upon the electrical conductivity of zeolites was also investigated. In all cases, the sorption of inert molecules and occlusion of salts led to an increase in the ionic conductivity (figure 5) and to a decrease in the activation energy. On the basis of the results, a model of electrical conduction with a so-called cationic conduction band was proposed.
