The successive deposition of components at high temperatures was used to reveal the elementary processes of reactive diffusion during the formation of the metastable amorphous phase, and to determine the diffusion coefficient of Al. It was found that the results could be described by:
D (cm2/s) = 1.2 x 10-6 exp[-69(kJ/mol)/RT]
