The interdiffusion of Mn in steels which contained between 17 and 18%Cr and between 10 and 16wt%Ni was studied at 1000 to 1300C by using the Boltzmann-Matano and Grube techniques. The results were found to be independent of concentration at up to 2wt%Mn. Small variations in the Cr and Ni contents had a negligible effect upon Mn diffusion. It was found that the results could be described by:
D (cm2/s) = 4.2 x 10-2 exp[-265(kJ/mol)/RT]
