The electron spin resonance characteristics of an unreported paramagnetic centre in chemical vapour deposited material were described. Fitting of the powder pattern-like spectrum identified the defect as being an S = 1 centre, with a spectroscopic splitting factor, g, of 2.00386. Two hyperfine spectra were resolved. One was attributed to 4 equivalent C sites. The centre was suggested to be an impurity-stabilized divacancy-like defect.
