Diffusion of oxygen in directions parallel to the c-axis and a-axis of single crystals was measured by oxygen implantation and Auger electron spectroscopy. The temperature dependence at 723 to 1073K was described by:
c-axis: D(m2/s) = 7.3 x 10-9exp[-187.3(kJ/mol)/RT]
a-axis: D(m2/s) = 4.7 x 10-9exp[-184.8(kJ/mol)/RT]
These diffusion coefficients were three orders of magnitude lower than those in α-Ti. The value of Dc/Da ranged from 0.94 to 1.11 and the diffusion anisotropy is weak.
