The bulk diffusion of 51Cr in single crystals of α-type material, parallel and perpendicular to the c-axis, was determined by using the thin-film method at 750 to 848C. It was found that the diffusivity was more rapid in the c-axis direction:
parallel: D (cm2/s) = 2 x 10-1 exp[-36.4(kcal/mol)/RT]
perpendicular: D (cm2/s) = 2 x 10-1 exp[-38.8(kcal/mol)/RT]
with an anisotropy factor of about 3.
