Self- and impurity-diffusion in Zr-Mn alloys (Mn-0.2at%) was studied by using the serial sectioning method at 1173 to 1473K. The results for 54Mn and 95Zr were described by:
D (cm2/s) = 5.4 x 10-3 exp[-33.5(kcal/mol)/RT]
The addition of Mn to Zr resulted in an enhancement of self-diffusion while retarding impurity diffusion. The results were consistent with a vacancy mechanism for diffusion.
