The self-diffusion of Be in deeply supercooled Zr46.7Ti8.3Cu7.5Ni10Be27.5 was studied by using radioactive 7Be and ion-beam sectioning. The temperature dependence of the diffusivity could be described by:
D (m2/s) = 3.98 x 102exp[-2.6(eV)/kT]
The tracer diffusivities consistently extended the size-dependence of the diffusion observed in the supercooled liquid state to the smallest constituent, but disagreed with previous results on chemical Be diffusion.
