The self-diffusion of C in hyperstoichiometric UC was measured in the single-phase region, using a radioactive tracer and sectioning technique. The diffusion equations were:
UC1.38: D(cm2/s) = 0.10 exp[-53.5(kcal/mol)/RT]
for 2100 to 2230C.
UC1.52: D(cm2/s) = 0.11 exp[-54.6(kcal/mol)/RT]
for 1950 to 2150C.
