The method for determining the oxygen self-diffusion coefficients was based upon Raman spectroscopy combined with the 16O-18O exchange technique. By using the time-dependent 18O2 concentration, the oxygen self-diffusion coefficients were calculated. The results obtained for 2.8mol%Y2O3 tetragonal zirconia polycrystals were described by:
D(cm2/s) = 1.55 x 10-2 exp[-120.0(kJ/mol)/RT]
