Chemical diffusion coefficients in natural enstatite were measured at 850 to

1250C under 1atm. Rutherford back-scattering spectrometry was used to measure diffusion profiles. For diffusion in air at 1000 to 1250C, the Arrhenius relationship was, for diffusion normal to (210) in air,

D(m2/s) = 2.55 x 10-9exp[-321(kJ/mol)/RT]

Behavior similar to that of Gd was noted for Nd.
