An X-ray fluorescence microprobe for the analysis of single grains (80 to 1000μm) of Cl- rich minerals for Br was evaluated for fluorapatite, chlorapatite, scapolite-group minerals (marialite and meonite) and sodalite. The diffusivity of Br in sodalite obeyed the Arrhenius relationship:
D(m2/s) = 6.5 x 10-7 exp[-270(kJ/mol)/RT]
at 800 to 1000C.
