The process of Eu diffusion was studied here for the first time. Experiments performed using the 152Eu radioactive isotope at 950 to 1050C showed that the diffusion coefficient varied from 10–12 to 10–9cm2/s and depended upon the temperature according to:

D (cm2/s) = 6 x 1019 exp[-6.18(eV)/kT]

It was concluded that Eu impurity atoms diffused predominantly via lattice sites.
