By using density-functional theory in combination with non-equilibrium Green’s function techniques, a study was made of the densities of states and transport properties of (7,0)-(8,0) and (8,0)-(9,0) single-wall carbon nanotube heterojunctions containing one pentagon-heptagon-pair (5/7) topological defect. The results suggested that the effect of pentagon-heptagon-pair (5/7) topological defects upon carbon nanotubes was remarkable. Heterojunctions made up of different types of carbon nanotube had differing characteristics.
