A study was made of the adsorption of foreign atoms on Stone-Wales defects in carbon nanotubes. A comparison was made of a defect-free carbon nanotube and of a carbon nanotube with a Stone-Wales defect. It was found that the introduction of Stone-Wales defects benefited only the adsorption capacity of B, N, F and Si among the 10 foreign atoms studied.
