An investigation was made of the microstructural evolution of samples of 17%Mn steel subjected to rolling at 700 and 800C. Also studied were the effects of the microstructure of the steel samples upon their mechanical behavior. Using a mathematical model, the stacking-fault energy was estimated to be 14.5mJ/m2.
