Stacking-fault energy measurements on nickel-cobalt alloys, made using three different methods, were compared. The combined results from the node and empirical texture methods differed from those obtained via the tetrahedron method; which were consistently lower, although showing the same form of variation with composition. A probable value of 240mJ/m2 was obtained for the stacking-fault energy of nickel.
