The development of intrinsic stacking faults in the ordered alloys was studied using electron microscopy. Analysis of the recombination of split dislocations indicated that wide stacking faults were to be expected following high-temperature working. The addition of Cr to Ni3Fe reduced the energy of the (a/6)<112> stacking faults and increased the splitting. The estimated stacking-fault energy was about 25mJ/m2.
