Stacking-fault energies of various metals were deduced from X-ray measurements of line profiles. The stacking-fault energy of Ni, Ni-20%Cu and Ni-40%Cu were 241, 143 and 83mJ/m2, respectively. It was found that the energy was not greatly affected by deformation.
