The dislocation structure of plastically deformed crystals was studied using transmission electron microscopy. It was shown that both total and partial dislocations were simultaneously available in the crystal. The total dislocations were dissociated into Shockley partials, and a stacking-fault energy of less than 6mJ/m2 was deduced.
