Dissociated dislocations were observed here for the first time by transmission electron microscopy of the perovskite-structured compound. Dislocations with Burgers vectors of [001] (pseudo-cubic index) were dissociated into co-linear partials on the (110) plane: [001] = ½[001] + ½[001]. The partials reacted to form octagonal extended nodes. The stacking-fault ribbons had a width of 350Å; corresponding to a stacking-fault energy of 35mJ/m2.
