The multiphase equilibration technique for the determination of the equilibrium angles, that developed at the interphase boundaries of a solid-liquid-vapor system, was used to calculate the surface and interfacial energies in polycrystalline CeO2 and the CeO2/Cu system in an Ar atmosphere at 1473 to 1773K. Linear temperature functions were obtained by extrapolation. For the surface energy,

γsv(J/m2) = 2.465 - 0.000563T

and for the grain-boundary energy:

γss(J/m2) = 1.687 - 0.000391T

The interfacial energy of the CeO2/Cu system was given by:

γsl(J/m2) = 2.623 – 0.001389(T-1356K)
