Structural defects in as-prepared and deformed lithium ferrite spinel were studied using transmission electron microscopy. Growth-type cation stacking faults and glissile dislocations on (110) planes were observed. From the measured value of the spacings between the partials ½(110) - ¼(110), the cation stacking-fault energy was estimated to be about 75mJ/m2.
