Surface and interfacial energies of the U-UC system were deduced, at 850 to 1720C, from sessile-drop experiments together with literature data. The values obtained could be described, as a function of temperature, by linear equations. The surface energy of UC was given by:

γ(J/m2) = 0.728 – 0.00001[T(C)-1325]

at 1325 to 1720C. The grain-boundary energy of UC was given by:

γ(J/m2) = 0.274 – 0.000004(t-1325)

at 1325 to 1720C.
