The temperature dependence of positron annihilation was investigated for samples of ordered β-CuZn alloy with various crystallographic orientations. The results obtained were interpreted on the basis of the extended trapping model. Analysis of the temperature dependence of the peak coincidence count gave the values of the free energy of formation for vacant sites, left by Cu- and Zn atoms: 0.58 and 0.77eV, respectively. A dependence of the vacancy formation energy upon the long-range order parameter was not observed.
