Formation enthalpies of a single vacancy in a one-dimensional sub-lattice of Me ions in β-vanadium oxide bronzes MexV2O5 (Me = Li, Cu, Na, Ag, K) were obtained using the PA method. These values were in the range of 0.55 to 0.67eV and depended upon the ionic radius of Me.
