Self- and impurity-diffusion in Zr-Mn alloys (Mn-0.2at%) was studied by using the serial sectioning method at 1173 to 1473K. The results for 95Zr were described by:
D (cm2/s) = 3.1 x 10-5 exp[-25.1(kcal/mol)/RT]
The addition of Mn to Zr resulted in an enhancement of self-diffusion while retarding impurity diffusion. The results were consistent with a vacancy mechanism for diffusion.

The best linear fits to the solute diffusion data ([1305] to [1309], [1313] to [1314], [1317] to [1318], [1322] to [1325], [1332] to [1334]) yield:
Cr: Ln[Do] = 0.55E – 22.7 (R2 = 0.82); H: Ln[Do] = 0.17E – 8.2 (R2 = 0.32);
Mn: Ln[Do] = 0.27E – 14 (R2 = 0.97); O: Ln[Do] = 0.29E – 14.4 (R2 = 0.37);
Zr: Ln[Do] = 0.34E – 18.9 (R2 = 0.999)
