A single crystal of the ξ'-phase was plastically deformed in 3-point bending. The deformed crystal exhibited a periodic lattice of phason lines. High-resolution electron microscopy revealed a novel dislocation type, termed a meta-dislocation, for the first time. The magnitude of its Burgers vector was 17.1nm. A dislocation of the ξ' structure was found at the core of the meta-dislocation. It was equivalent, in magnitude and direction, to the most common Burgers vector in the icosahedral quasi-crystal.
