The thermotransport of H was studied in Zircaloy-4 and modified Zircaloy-4. The latter was prepared by changing the chemical composition of Zircaloy-4. The heat of transport of H was determined in order to evaluate the magnitude and direction of thermotransport in the alloys, and the H distribution which was caused by thermotransport was investigated. During thermotransport, the H existed in 2 different regions: the single-phase region and the 2-phase region. At the interface between the 2 regions, the H concentration distribution exhibited a relatively smooth curve instead of a sharp discontinuity. The heat of transport in both alloys was of the order of 30kJ/mol.
