A generalization of a previously developed chemical rate approach for the case of point-defect diffusion in an anisotropic material with defect sinks was presented. In the limiting case of 1-dimensional diffusion, accurate expressions for the sink strength could be obtained in terms of the sink capture cross-sections for point defects.
