A molecular dynamics study was made of atomic self-diffusion in Frank-Kasper type dodecagonal quasi-crystals. It was found that the predicted quasi-crystal specific flip mechanism for atomic diffusion indeed occurred in this system. However, in order to be effective, the mechanism needed to be catalyzed by other defects such as half-vacancies. It was therefore difficult to distinguish it from standard vacancy diffusion.
