The dynamics of a closed dislocation loop, following changes in the sense of the shear stresses in the slip plane, were considered. It was shown that, upon the collapse of a dislocation loop which encircled some region of elementary crystallographic slip, a significant concentration of energy release during collapse was possible in local volumes.
