The rate of isotopic exchange of chloride ions, between hydrous ceria and aqueous solutions, was studied by using radiometric techniques. The self-diffusion of Cl- was measured in hydrous material which had been dried at temperatures of 50, 200 or 400C. It was found that the mobility of Cl- increased with increasing drying temperature (table 31).
