A sectioning method, involving a hand microtome, was described for the measurement of metal-ion diffusion in high-temperature superconducting oxides. Application of this method to the present system yielded an average diffusivity of 9.5 x 10-8cm2/s at 931C, and showed that the diffusion was homogeneous and obeyed square-root of time kinetics.
