Quasi-static anelastic studies were made of Cu3Ba2YO6.45 at 100 and 120C. The results revealed the occurrence of a relaxation process with a wide spectrum of activation enthalpies, and a very large relaxation strength. The latter fact indicated that the process was O redistribution between differently oriented sites in the CuO plane. The relaxation process characterized the rate-determining step in long-range O diffusion.
